Timeout for Practice and Reflection
Picture

A Day of Practice is a dedicated period for engaging in sustained mindfulness and self-awareness.

It offers participants the chance to step away from everyday tasks and obligations, immersing themselves in mindful activities within a supportive group setting.

Guided by a teacher, the day typically consists of familiar and occasional new practices, most of which are carried out in silence to deepen the experience.

Attendees are encouraged to avoid electronic devices, embracing a ‘digital detox’, and use breaks for mindful eating, walking or resting.

The session allows individuals to explore a range of experiences, from restful and pleasant to challenging, using skills developed through previous training and/or experience

Participants are invited to honour their own willingness and capacity, ensuring the day is both nurturing and respectful of personal boundaries.

Practical arrangements, such as informing household members and wearing comfortable clothing, help create an environment conducive to mindful movement and reflection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What technical equipment will I need?
  • You will need access to a tablet/laptop/computer (attending the course via a smartphone does not tend to work very well.)
  • You will need a reliable internet connection.
  • Don't worry if you are unfamiliar with Zoom, resources will be provided to enable you to undertake a test session, and your teacher will be available to support you.

Why are the training sessions recorded?, and who else will have access to the recordings?

The sessions are recorded to enable the ongoing evaulation of your teacher, and will be shared with an OMF supervisor. They will never be used for any other purpose, and will be destroyed once evaluation is complete.

Do I need to have an established mindfulness practice or have attended a mindfulness course to attend?

No, as long as you have some experience of mindfulness and are comfortable sitting for periods of upto 30 mins.
